"Avoiding drunk driving": E-scooter ban for the Erlangen Bergkirchweih - also in the city center

During the Erlangen Bergkirchweih there will be a ban on e-scooters in the city center and on the "Berg".

Finally Erlangen Bergkirchweih again!

In 2022 the popular beer festival can take place again.

Driving there with the e-scooter will not be possible.

Erlangen – After two years of a forced Corona break, it’s back to: “The Berch is calling!”.

The Erlangen Bergkirchweih will take place in 2022 from June 3rd to 12th.

Visitors have to be prepared for some changes this year.

The price has risen, there will be restrictions and apparently no Schächtner marquee.

The city has now announced that e-scooters are also banned during the Bergkirchweih, at least in the prescribed ban zone.

The city center is also affected.

"From June 2nd, 2022 up to and including June 14th, 2022, there will be a parking ban for e-scooters in the city center and the Burgberg," says a statement from the city.

The reason?

The ban should lead to "guaranteeing safety and avoiding accidents and drunk driving during the Bergkirchweih".

The city has developed a joint concept with the provider.

During the above-mentioned period, it is not possible due to technical means on the part of the providers to park or borrow vehicles.

In advance, the providers remove all electric scooters from the area.

Three parking zones have been set up at the edge of the ban zone.

These include the mobile point at the large car park, the mobile point on Mozartstraße and the Zollhausplatz.

These are checked regularly so that there is always enough space available.

Bergkirchweih Erlangen 2022: The same regulations apply to e-scooters as to cars

The e-scooter providers set up in-app notifications about the ban zone and the applicable regulations.

In this context, the city points out again that the same regulations apply to e-scooters as to cars.

The same goes for drugs and alcohol.

The blood alcohol limit for persons up to the age of 21 and new drivers during the probationary period (regardless of age) is 0.00 per thousand.

Otherwise, the 0.5 per thousand limit applies.
