Siegfried Russwurm

(58) knows the machine rooms of German industry like no other.

The engineer, who holds a PhD, rose to the top of the Siemens Management Board.

Today he chairs the Supervisory Board of Thyssenkrupp and the shareholders' meeting of the Voith Group.

He has been President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) since November 2020.

Russia's war, but also the authoritarian tendencies in Hungary are now forcing German industry to show its colors politically.

Recently, revelations by SPIEGEL and other media about China's repression in the Uyghur province of Xinjiang caused a stir.

Russwurm recently got involved in the debate as editor of a volume of essays: "How should the economy deal with autocracies?"

(with Joachim Lang, Herder Verlag).

So it's high time for a conversation about one of the most important topics of our time.
