The Spanish health authorities announced the registration of 15 new cases of monkeypox virus, bringing the total confirmed cases in Spain to 51, which makes it second only to the United Kingdom in the number of cases of this virus.
The Ministry of Health said in a statement that the Madrid region had recorded 47 confirmed cases of the virus so far, while the Canary Islands and Andalusia had reported two cases in each.
The ministry noted that the number of suspected cases has reached 20, to date, in seven Spanish provinces, where the Canary Islands reported the emergence of 4 possible cases, pending confirmation, and 3 suspected cases are under study and verification, while the Public Health Committee analyzed and studied all cases, but it did not take any decision regarding The application of the vaccine to positive cases, as required by the Madrid region, but only the health protocol followed and the application of compulsory and mandatory isolation on infected persons only.
