Gmund – The 2022 budget of the municipality of Gmund includes 26 million euros.

This includes numerous investments.

At 26 million euros, the 2022 budget is the largest budget that Gmund has ever passed.

How the corona pandemic and the Ukraine war will continue to have an impact was also a topic at the most recent meeting.

The municipality of Gmund is planning numerous investments.

It is not without reason that the 2022 budget is the most extensive to date.

But: "The planned projects will create forward-looking values," explained treasurer Georg Dorn.

Around 5.5 million euros are planned for investments in 2022 alone.

Around 8.9 million euros are planned between 2023 and 2025.

Per capita debt twice as high

This also increases the debt.

In the course of the year, this amount will increase from a little over 8.1 million euros to almost 8.4 million euros, the treasurer explained.

That corresponds to a per capita debt of 1,307 euros.

The state average for communities of the same size is 674 euros.

That did raise concerns.

"The per capita debt is twice as high as the average - that's no trifle," said Michael Huber (Greens).

He doubted that the planned large-scale projects could be tackled.

Mayor Alfons Besel explained that the high debts are offset by values: "Some communities have an endless investment backlog, but they have less debt." In Gmund, 22 more extensive projects are on the agenda for 2022, and another 16 by 2025.

  • Structural engineering measures cost 555,000 euros and civil engineering measures 3.32 million euros.
