After suspicion of weapons at school: "No immediate danger"

In a school in Dinslaken, a student is said to have had a gun in his hand and fled.

The police come in large numbers.

In the evening there is the all clear - and arrests.

Emergency counselors are available at the school.

Dinslaken - After suspected weapons, the police searched a school in Dinslaken with a large contingent on Wednesday.

Hours after the start of the operation, the police announced in the evening that there was "no immediate danger" to people.

The police reported arrests without giving further details.

Students and teachers who were still in the school rooms would be led out of the building by the official.

The areas around the school had been cordoned off.

According to the police, an employee of the comprehensive school had seen a young person in a basement room "who is said to have held a firearm in his hand".

When the teenager noticed the employee, he fled.

The incident was reported at the school around 1:40 p.m.

The police were also represented by special forces in the blocked-off streets near the school.

People were waiting on the sidewalks nearby, ambulances were waiting.

The students and teachers escorted out of the building should be given medical and psychological care, police said.

Numerous rescue workers, police officers and emergency chaplains were ready.

The investigators had previously spoken of a "dangerous situation".

However, the police had rejected rumors of a killing spree at the comprehensive school.

"The investigation is ongoing," said a police spokesman in the evening.

It was unclear whether there had actually been a weapon.

No information was given about the identity of those arrested.
