An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale hit the cities of Mashhad and Kalat in Khorasan Province, northeastern Iran.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the Seismological Center of Tehran University as saying that the epicenter of the quake was near the villages of Marshak and Sij, 60 km north of Mashhad, noting that there was no information so far about casualties.
