During the pandemic, more and more people paid for their purchases without cash - a Nuremberg bakery has now completely dispensed with coins and notes.

Nuremberg – More and more people pay without cash.

The large Franconian bakery "Der Beck" in Nuremberg is now taking the consequences of this development and will in future only offer its customers cashless payment in the branch at Vogelsgarten 2 on the corner of Bahnhofsstraße.

If you want to buy bread, rolls, pretzels or donuts here in the future, you will need an EC or credit card, smartphone or smartwatch.

Nürnberger Bäckerei: "The trend is towards cashless payment functions"

"Due to the large number of different cashless payment options, from card payment to smart watches to mobile phones, we too have noticed that the trend is clearly towards cashless payment functions," explains Tobias Ballbach, head of the marketing and PR department at "Der Beck “.

Cashless payment is already much more widespread in many neighboring countries and Scandinavian countries.

"Especially during the corona pandemic, it became apparent that the trend towards cashless payment methods in all age groups has increased again - even for small amounts," says the bakery.

Even before the changeover, many regular customers made cashless payments

Due to the proximity to the university, there are a number of regular customers in the branch who already made cashless payments before the changeover.

In all other 150 Beck branches in Nuremberg and the region, it is still possible to pay both with cash and cashless.

In other areas, too, such as at the Rock im Park music festival, people are increasingly being able to make cashless payments.

The feedback from customers has so far been largely positive, as the payment process has been significantly shortened and the waiting time of customers is noticeably shorter, the press office informs.
