Traffic is expected to be dense this Thursday, May 26, for the Ascension weekend which encourages tens of thousands of users to leave for a few days each year.
In the direction of departures, traffic is classified red (“
very difficult
”) by Bison Futé for the day on Thursday.
The disruptions on the main connecting axes will be even greater on Sunday, with traffic classified as black (“
extremely difficult
”) in the direction of returns.

Bison Futé announced traffic that was still “
difficult
” for this Wednesday evening.
And more particularly in Île-de-France, where traffic jams persist until 11 p.m. on the A10 at Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines, and on the A6 at Fleury.
Bison Futé also recommends that users avoid the A7 motorway between Lyon and Orange until 10 p.m.
Traffic also remained particularly strong this evening at the level of the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205).
Bison Futé notably provides for a wait of more than 30 minutes on this section of road from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Departures in the red on Thursday
Departures spread over two days, traffic will still be classified red at the national level on Thursday, in particular in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The A7 should be avoided from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Lyon and Orange.
Significant traffic jams formed between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the A8, near Aix-en-Provence.
As for this Wednesday evening, traffic promises to be saturated at the level of access to the Mont-Blanc tunnel from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Further west, the axis linking Toulouse to Narbonne (A61) risks becoming denser;
it is not recommended by
Bison Futé
between 9 am and 4 pm.
Bison Futé also foresees heavy traffic for the whole day on the N165, between Nantes and Vannes.
Traffic also promises to be difficult all day on the Rennes ring road.
In Ile-de-France, traffic jams will persist from mid-morning until the end of the day, at the start of the A6 (Lyon), A10 (Bordeaux) and A13 (Caen) motorways.

” returns on Sunday
If the traffic will be “
usual
” Friday and Saturday in both directions, it will be “
extremely difficult
” Sunday, from mid-morning and until late in the evening.
Throughout France, returns to major cities will be disrupted between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., at best.
In the South, the majority of the connecting axes will be congested, particularly between Lyon, Marseille, Narbonne and Aix-en-Provence.
In the West and the Center, the highways linking Bordeaux, Rennes and Saint-Brieuc to Paris will also be saturated, as will the Clermont-Ferrand area.
In Île-de-France,

announces disruptions at their peak during the day, which will only subside from 11 p.m. or even midnight.

The organization advises against returning to Ile-de-France and major cities after 12 p.m., and to take most highways between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
