Today, Canada announced that it had detected 15 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the province of Quebec, with more cases expected to be discovered in other parts of the country.
Reuters quoted Canadian Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos as saying in a statement: “More samples from other parts of the country have been sent to a laboratory in Winnipeg for testing;
We expect more confirmed cases to appear in the coming days,” noting that it was not yet clear what symptoms the patients had, nor the severity of their condition.
Canada confirmed its first two cases of monkeypox last week after authorities in Quebec said they were examining 17 suspected cases of the virus.
