Company visits, an invitation to discover France differently

A large number of factories and production sites in France open their backstage to the general public.


The Biot Glassworks (Provence), the Gan Jurançon Cellar (New Aquitaine), the Hautes-Vosges Confectionery (Great East), the Pointe du Raz Biscuit Factory (Brittany), the Valrhona Chocolate City (Auvergne-Rhône -Alpes) or the Salin d'Aigues-Mortes (Occitanie)… Here are some of the ten companies most visited each year in France and which will open their doors again this summer to tourists from all over the world.

For the third year, Entreprise et Découverte, the national association for company visits, which aims to enhance and promote the know-how tourism sector, is renewing its operation "This summer, we meet at the 'workshop', a genuine invitation to discover France in a different way, by visiting emblematic companies of the national heritage.

  • Taxes 2022: all about your tax return

A sector in its own right, know-how tourism is a French exception that attracts 15 million people each year who flock to 2,000 companies that have developed a visit activity.

In 45% of cases, these are SMEs rooted in their territory with a strong heritage dimension that are over 50 years old.

All sectors are represented, from agri-food (37% of visits) to fashion and cosmetics (8%), including wines, beers and spirits (22%), industry and energy (16%) and arts and crafts (15%).

A Guide du routard, produced by Entreprise et Découverte, lists all the good addresses, by department, to visit, with family or group, companies during the summer.
