In the afternoon of the 25th, it was reported that three trams derailed at the same location during the U-turn at the "roundabout" of the Shau Kei Wan Tram Terminus.
As can be seen in the photos taken by netizens, the wheels of the tram broke off the rails and shoveled onto the asphalt road.
At about 7pm, the Hong Kong Tramways announced on its Facebook page that the tram service from the junction of Shau Kei Wan Road/Aldrich Bay Road to Shau Kei Wan Terminus was suspended.
The detailed content is as follows:
"In order to tie in with the emergency rail maintenance works, the following east-west tram stops between Shau Kei Wan Road/Aldrich Bay Road junction and Shau Kei Wan Terminus will operate from now until 5:45am on 28 May 2022 (Saturday) Suspension of service:
(i) eastbound from "99E - Nam Hong Street" to "Shau Kei Wan Terminus"; and
(ii) Westbound from "Shau Kei Wan Terminus" to "06W - Hoi Fu Street"
Works will be completed early or delayed due to schedule delays.
