A former student of the ENA, the diplomat Xavier Driencourt alternated between functions in Paris (diplomatic adviser to Alain Juppé at Matignon, director general of the administration of the Quai d'Orsay, head of the General Inspectorate of Foreign Affairs) and abroad (consul general in Sydney, French ambassador to Malaysia, French ambassador to Algeria between 2008 and 2012, then between 2017 and 2020). He published “The Algerian Enigma. Chronicles of an Embassy in Algiers” (Observatory Editions, March 2022).
