After a three-year break due to Corona, the active members of the fire brigades in the district were able to meet again.

They met in Benediktbeuern.

There was a lot to talk about.

Benediktbeuern – “God bless you for the past two and a half years.

That you endured the time of the pandemic and always ensured operational readiness.” With these words, Anton Ortlieb, the mayor of Benediktbeuern, thanked all members of the district fire brigades who gathered on Friday for the spring service and association meeting in the hall of the Gasthof Post had.

The thanks for maintaining the operational capability of the volunteer fire services in the Corona period was one of the two main aspects of the meeting, which was held for the first time in three years.

But there was also great joy that the situation was gradually getting closer to normal again.

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier also emphasized this in his greeting: "Finally sitting together again without distance - that's nice.

Kathrin Bauer (Secretary) and Johannes Hirt (Commander deputy North) were newly elected.

Volunteering will no longer be taken for granted

However, there are "many question marks" about the future of the volunteer fire brigades.

As a result of the demographic kink, staff is running out everywhere.

"No one has a patent solution for this," said the district administrator.

In addition, changes in society are making it increasingly difficult to attract young people to volunteer.

Niedermaier warned that "it will no longer be taken for granted that ten minutes after an accident someone well trained will be there and help."

New technic

Finally, District Fire Councilor Erich Zengerle informed about the latest news and innovations in the fire service in the district.

So there should be an additional alarm in the future, which will work independently of the digital radio network.

The relevant signals are to be sent directly via the Internet.

"We are in the process of exploring the market and testing systems in order to be able to offer a district solution."

New faces on the district board

After Georg Lettner left as secretary of the district fire brigade association and the new commander was elected in Gelting, a new commander deputy north and a secretary had to be found for the district.

Here the meeting elected Ickinger Johannes Hirt as the new speaker and Kathrin Bauer as secretary.

The new youth regulations for the fire brigades were then unanimously approved.

A considerable number came together for the awards this year, since those of the last two years were also made up for.

In addition, it was suggested that in the future the achievements of the deputy commanders should also be recognized, whose areas of responsibility, and thus the amount of time they spend, has recently continued to increase.
