The district of Weilheim-Schongau wants to be prepared - as a precaution.
Schongau
- In order to be able to implement this emergency accommodation in Schongau, the district of Weilheim-Schongau has now applied for a change in use.
The construction and environmental committee of the city of Schongau, which recently dealt with the topic, explained that the intention is to build ahead in the event that it is not possible to rent enough apartments for refugees.
"The district is applying for a change in use as a precaution," explained Mayor Falk Sluyterman, "this is a purely preventive measure." 93 refugees from the Ukraine are currently registered in Schongau.
The district currently also has enough offers for private apartments, "but you want to be prepared," says Sluyterman.
The gyms can also be used in other locations if necessary
As the head of the town hall reported, there is such a change in use not only in Schongau, but also for other gyms in schools for which the district is responsible for material expenses.
The city of Penzberg only recently approved the use of a district gym, where almost 190 refugees could be accommodated if necessary.
The Jahnhalle in Weilheim could also become a temporary refugee quarters.
