An elderly couple ended up driving their car in a pond near Tirschenreuth.
Her rescue was a 16-year-old who pulled her out of the water.
Tirschenreuth - That went off lightly again: After an accident near Mooslohe near Tirschenreuth in the Upper Palatinate, two cars landed in a pond next to the road on Monday (May 23).
The occupants could be rescued from the water largely unscathed - also thanks to the courageous efforts of a young person.
"A 16-year-old resident jumped into the water and rescued the two people involved in the accident from the vehicle in the water," says Klaus Schuster from the Tirschenreuth police station, who was in charge of the operation.
The couple that the boy pulled out of the pond had just collided with a 62-year-old Nissan driver who was about to turn left into a property.
The 77-year-old driver noticed this too late.
He had already started to overtake - and hit the driver's side of the white Nissan with full force.

Thanks to his rescue operation, the victims of the accident received the care they needed in good time: first by first aid from the people present, then by the emergency services that had arrived.
According to the police, all four people suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
A total of almost 80 people helped.
The rescue helicopter, which was called to the scene of the accident as a precaution, was not used.
Both cars are totally destroyed - the total damage is around 35,000 euros
When the injured inmates were treated, the police and fire brigade were able to clean up.
They pulled the vehicles out of the pond with a tow truck and checked whether fuel had leaked.
The roadway had to be closed during the rescue work and traffic diverted over a wide area.
According to the police, both cars were totaled with a total loss of around 35,000 euros.

Incidentally, it is not uncommon for young people to become rescuers in Bavaria.
An example of such a young hero is the 17-year-old who saved a blind woman in the terrible S-Bahn accident in Schäftlarn.
