According to Education Week, an organization that monitors education in the United States, about 119 school shootings have occurred since the organization began tracking this type of incident.
The organization's statistics indicated that since the beginning of this year until now, a shooting has led to injuries or deaths in 27 schools, and 27 people were killed in those incidents, including 24 students, in addition to three school employees, while 40 others were injured.
The statistic indicated that last year witnessed the highest level of accidents since the organization started its database, as 34 such incidents were recorded in educational institutions, and in 2020, there were ten shootings, and both 2019 and 2018 recorded (24) shootings. .
And 21 people were killed in a shooting incident yesterday inside an elementary school in Ovaldi, Texas, USA.
This incident is added to the series of shooting incidents in the United States, which has become a common occurrence, which observers attribute to the spread of a culture of violence in American society and the ease of possession of individual weapons.
The incident comes just ten days after a shooting at the Tops supermarket in Buffalo, New York, that killed ten people.
