The insurance manager was suspected of gathering in Mong Kok with more than 100 people in September 2019.
After more than two years, he was charged with one count of participating in an unlawful assembly. The case will appear in the West Kowloon Court today (25th).
Magistrate Cheng Nianci adjourned the case to July 19 for further hearing, pending the defence's request for documents from the prosecution and legal advice to the defendant.
The defendant was granted bail of $3,000 in cash and was not allowed to leave Hong Kong during the period. He was required to surrender all travel documents, live at the reported address, and report to the police station every week.
The defendant, Yip Jian (27), was charged with participating in an unlawful assembly with other unidentified persons at No. 230 Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok, on September 2, 2019.
