(CNN) --

Model Kate Moss took the stand virtually from England to testify in the libel trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard on Wednesday as the actor's witness, telling jurors he never pushed her down the stairs.

Moss, who testified for less than three minutes, said he was in a romantic relationship with Depp from 1994 to 1998.

Depp's team called her as a rebuttal witness in response to testimony from Heard, who said on the stand that she thought about a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss when she and her sister Whitney Heard Henriquez got into an altercation with Depp about a few hours later. ladders.

"He hit Whitney, and I heard a rumor, a vague rumor, about it," Heard testified on May 17.

This Wednesday, Moss testified under oath that the rumor was not true: that the then couple went to Jamaica during their relationship and that at one point during the trip there was a storm and Moss fell down some stairs and injured his back.

"We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before me. There had been a storm and when I left the room I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back," Moss said.

"I screamed because I didn't know what happened to me and I was in pain and he came running to help me and took me to my room and got me medical attention."

Depp's attorney asked Moss if Depp had ever pushed her down stairs during the course of their relationship.

"No. He never pushed me or kicked me or threw me down the stairs," Moss testified.

Moss was not questioned by Heard's legal team.

Depp sued Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 for The Washington Post that the actor says defamed him and allegedly caused him to lose his job.

Heard has countersued Depp for $100 million, alleging that the lawyer's statements calling her accusations of abuse by Depp a "hoax" defame her and make it difficult for her.

The trial, which is taking place in Virginia, has been underway since mid-April.

Closing arguments in the case are expected to be presented this Friday.
