There will no longer be a fifth grade at the Waldram middle school.

Parents protest against the move to Hammerschmiedweg and want to start a petition.

Wolfratshausen/Waldram – At first Lisa breast man's daughter was a bit disappointed that she would go to middle school after fourth grade.

In the meantime, the ten-year-old was looking forward to it.

After looking at the new specialist rooms and classrooms in the Waldram school, marveling at the computer workstations and seeing the machines in the workroom, she was almost a little enthusiastic.

Then, a few days ago, the anticipation was greatly dampened: In the coming school year - according to the decision of the City Council's Culture Committee - there will be no fifth grade in Waldram.

The students are to be accommodated on Hammerschmiedweg.

The Waldramer parents are up in arms against the decision and are organizing a petition.

Parents protest against class move: "Nobody understands this decision"

In an open letter, the chair of the parents' council, Stephanie Hanna-Necker, addressed Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner and the city council.

"Our fourth grade students and parents were horrified to learn of the results," she writes.

According to Hanna-Necker, the fact that the Waldram headmaster Josef Märkl was not invited to the said meeting of the culture committee and that the arguments in favor of the Waldram location were dealt with "only briefly and incompletely" is "very annoying".

No more fifth grade in Waldram: middle school parents write to the mayor

In her eyes, there are several points that would speak in favor of the children staying in Waldram, said the chairwoman of the parents' council at a site visit with our newspaper.

You have to know: The elementary and middle school on Hammerschmiedweg is to be extensively renovated and expanded in the near future.

"So the children are moving from the new rooms in Waldram to a construction site in Wolfratshausen," says Brustmann.

This is not only unsightly, but above all - especially for eleven to twelve year olds - not conducive to concentrated learning.

Breast man knows what she is talking about: During her daughter's elementary school years, five new classrooms were built in Waldram.

Now they are done, the construction site is complete.

Taking the fifth graders to Hammerschmiedweg right now "is a huge waste," says Hanna-Necker.

Wolfratshausen middle school is being renovated - "Children are moving to a construction site"

The two women would assess the situation differently if there were not enough children for a fifth grade in Waldram.

"But in September it would be enough to form a small class," says Brustmann.

A decision she would welcome.

"In small groups, the children can learn much more intensively, are looked after much better and develop their individual skills much better than in a large school center."

Merging of the fifth classes in Wolfratshausen: the city council has good reasons

Nevertheless, the culture committee decided to merge the fifth grades at Hammerschmiedweg.

There is an open all-day offer - this care is also available at the secondary school in Wolfratshausen.

The Waldram students who want to do this at the middle school will no longer have to be driven to the city center after school, instead there will be a mealtime together and the girls and boys from Waldram will be integrated into the group immediately because they already have the other all-day school children know from class.

A merger would also mean that two fifth grades could be registered in Wolfratshausen, which saves teaching hours.

This emerges from the meeting proposal of the committee.

In addition - as the city decided some time ago in the course of the school expansion - the relocation of Waldramer classes to Hammerschmiedweg is planned anyway.

In the case of the fifth classes, this step would now only be completed earlier than planned.

Mayor Heilinglechner wants to talk to parents

When asked about the parents' criticism, Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner explains that the chosen solution emerged from several preliminary talks - which, mind you, took place "with both headmasters".

In addition, the school board advised to take this step.

"The culture committee followed this recommendation," said Heilinglechner.

The Waldramer parents have the feeling that their arguments go unnoticed.

Now they want to make their voices heard: At the elementary school, Lisa Brustmann is collecting signatures to persuade the city council to give in.

The response was good, the mother told our newspaper: "Everyone is behind the petition.

None of us understands this decision – I have no logic whatsoever.”

Secondary schools in Wolfratshausen are merged

City hall boss Heilinglechner has now invited to a personal meeting: On May 30th, the two headmasters Märkl and Frank Schwesig as well as the parents' council and other participants should meet.

"We would like to discuss the various arguments," announces the mayor.

Already this week, the school at Hammerschmiedweg invited the parents of the fourth graders from Waldram to get an idea of the facility.

The discussion offensive welcome Hanna-Necker and breast man.

"But we would have liked to have been spoken to before the city made a decision," says Brustmann.

Then she could have explained "that the decision to move should not only be made for financial and organizational reasons, but also for the well-being of the children".

Hanna-Necker is still wondering what advantages the move would have for the fifth graders: "I don't see a single one."
