Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that his country and Africa will be able to jointly enhance security and stability in Africa and in the world at large.
In a congratulatory message on Africa Day read out by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today, Putin said, "Our country has always attached special importance to developing friendly relations with partners in Africa, as the Russia-Africa summit held in Sochi in 2019 provided good conditions for expanding cooperation. Putin expressed his confidence that Russia And Africa, working jointly, will be able to ensure the development and implementation of many promising projects and initiatives in various fields for the benefit of countries and peoples and in the interest of enhancing security and stability in Africa and around the world.
In his speech on the occasion, Lavrov indicated that Russia was and will always be a partner of African countries, and it seeks to develop cooperation with them in the economic, political and humanitarian fields, relying on logistical and financial mechanisms to ensure the implementation of joint projects and to encourage the participation of businessmen in the implementation of these projects.
Lavrov explained that the United States and some Western countries are trying to obstruct cooperation between Russia and Africa and between the latter and China, and they always violate the rights of peoples.
Lavrov pointed out that the behavior of Western countries raises the discomfort of African countries that adopt balanced positions regarding global conflicts, stressing Russia's confidence that its friends in Africa will not succumb to the pressures of Western countries.
