When Volker Bouffier says goodbye, there may be traffic delays in Wiesbaden.
Wiesbaden – Volker Bouffier (CDU) resigns as Prime Minister of Hesse.
According to his own statement, he does not do this because he no longer enjoys it, "but because I have come to the conclusion that this would now be the right change for us in Hesse." Bouffier said on Friday (May 20) during his last speech in the Bundesrat.
Bouffier's successor as prime minister of the state of Hesse has already been determined, as Boris Rhein will take over from him.
His farewell will take place on May 30, 2022 in Wiesbaden.
Due to this celebration, there may be obstructions in road traffic around Biebrich Castle due to high traffic volumes and barriers, as stated in a press release from the Hessian state government.
She therefore asks all residents in this area for their understanding.
"Everyone involved is trying to keep the disruption to a minimum," said government spokesman Michael Bußer in advance.
Traffic obstructions in Wiesbaden: Several streets closed because of Bouffier's farewell
The restricted areas include the street Am Parkfeld, which will be converted into a one-way street on this day.
It is then temporarily only passable via the Rheingaustraße.
In addition, Elsa-Brandström-Strasse, Nansenstrasse, Dieter-Löber-Strasse, Laamemauer and Dunantstrasse are best reached via Albert-Schweizer-Allee.
The Rheingaustraße is temporarily closed between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. and again between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., but is otherwise passable.
On May 30, 2022, there will be an absolute ban on stopping on both sides of the street between the intersection of Rheingaustrasse and Elsa-Brandström-Strasse on Am Parkfeld.
This stopping ban also applies to the curved areas of Elsa-Brandström-Strasse.
The reason for this is that the articulated buses used can pass unhindered on this day.
In the street Am Schlosspark, the part between the intersection of Rheingaustraße and the Karpfenhof will be completely closed and a stopping ban will be set up.
Farewell to Volker Bouffier: Restrictions in Wiesbaden also affect pedestrians
In addition to restrictions on road traffic, pedestrians can also be hindered on their way due to the celebrations.
The palace park up to Armenruhstraße will not be accessible between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m., the Hessian state government is staying with.
And the castle grounds are only possible to a limited extent.
