Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry has moved TV broadcasting vehicles to Mariupol to show Russian state propaganda in the devastated city.

Mariupol – The Ukrainian port city of Mariupol has not only been the scene of violent clashes between separatists and Ukrainians, questionable referendums and the like since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After months of shelling and the almost complete destruction of the city, the last defenders of the city, who had entrenched themselves in the Azowstal Steel Works, gave up, Mariupol is now under Russian control.

The government in Moscow now appears to be trying to bring their side of the story to the residents of Mariupol.

According to BBC journalist and expert on Russian propaganda Francis Scarr, Russia has brought mobile television sets to Mariupol to broadcast Russian propaganda television.

This reports on how life under occupation is “better”.

Mariupol: Occupiers display propaganda 'against ruins and mass graves'

Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, also reported on Tuesday evening (May 24) on his Telegram channel.

He had the following to say about the TV broadcasting van: “In order to make the residents of Mariupol believe in the claim 'life has improved', the occupiers turn on propaganda.

There were newspapers (which were used to light the stoves).

And you need electricity to turn on the TV.

But the bastards found a way out: Mobile TV from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations”.

According to Andryushchenko, this transition from newspapers to OB vans had already been completed on Monday (May 23).

“Since yesterday, the first (TV broadcast van) in Skhidnyi (district) in Mariupol has been in operation.

Right here, against the background of ruins and mass graves, residents of Mariupol are informed about the improvements and the 'crimes of the Ukrainian army'.”

Mariupol: Mayor speaks of 20,000 people killed

Earlier, he told Presidential Advisor Mykhailo Podoliak that the occupiers had killed tens of thousands of people in Mariupol alone.

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boichenko went even further.

He said the Russians killed more residents in the city than the Nazis did in World War II.

According to him, more than 20,000 people died in Mariupol in two months at the hands of the occupying forces.
