“Kristen wore a very opulent outfit, with a turtleneck that came up quite high.

Her hairdresser absolutely wanted her hair to be lifted and her face cleared up”, tells us Christophe Danchaud, Make-up artist for Chanel, who took care of sublimating the actress for this climb of the Cannes steps.

"When the face is totally highlighted in this way, you have to bring a lot of light to it with the makeup."

A luminous make-up

Thus, the Chanel muse wore a look that contrasted with her usual style: "Kristen likes heavy makeup, but I wanted to soften this "rock" look that sticks to her skin and not opt for eyes very black for once.

I wanted to create something more glamorous, more classic and more defined”, explains Christophe Danchaud.

The part of the face highlighted for this make-up was her look, completely revealed by her hair pulled back in a ponytail.

“I had to find a trick to give her strong eye makeup, while bringing her softness,” continues Christophe Danchaud.

To do this, the make-up artist dipped into the Les Beiges de Chanel eyeshadow palette in a Tender shade, creating an incandescent mix with satiny brown, red and pink shades.

"I started by 'stretching' the eye by applying the shadows with a brush to create a feline effect, taking care that the result was clean and clear.

Then, I applied a black pencil on the upper eyelid to restore depth to her eyes.

Finally, I gave him a brown eyelash that I extended on the outer corner, like an eyeliner.

To counterbalance this alliance of warm colors, “I opted for a nude lipstick, the contours of which I drew with a slightly darker pencil, without falling into the 80's side.

I find that it gives a little pep to the mouth,” says Christophe Danchaud.

A flawless complexion

The expert prepped Kristen's skin with a revitalizing serum, before unifying it with a simple foundation.

The ultra "glowy" healthy glow that radiates her face is based on a contouring technique with a very natural effect: "I created a gradient by applying a luminous blush on the cheekbones which blends into another more matte cheeks just below.

It's a good way to restore radiance to the complexion, while highlighting the cheekbones,” advises Christophe Danchaud.

The pro tip for making Kristen's make-up last all evening and staying flawless under the photographers' flashes?

“Usually I apply a lot of powder to avoid shine, but this time I used a little matting paper.

The one from Chanel is great because it doesn't remove the material and mattifies slightly, leaving the skin its satin side: I really wanted that so that Kristen keeps this freshness,” he adds.

Promise kept.
