Due to a TikTok video, several investigations are now underway in Bavaria.

Reason are serious racist insults.

Passau - On Tuesday (May 17) the police were made aware of a TikTok video in which two people insulted their video chat partner with sometimes very racist statements.

The Passau criminal police have now initiated investigations against all those involved and are investigating together with the Passau public prosecutor's office.

TikTok post shows video chat: ad for racist statements towards chat partners

On the video platform TikTok, users can upload and watch short videos.

The social medium has a very young user base, the youngest age group is still in elementary school.

The medium is often criticized in particular because of the age-related vulnerability of large parts of the target group.

In the past week, a video that showed a video call via the platform "Ome TV" received a lot of clicks on TikTok.

Two people, as investigations later revealed, a 22-year-old and a 20-year-old from Passau, insulted their dark-skinned video chat partner with massive racist statements in the video.

The video was apparently made in January, but was only released in May.

The two suspects from Passau are being investigated in particular for insults.

However, according to the police report, investigations are also underway against the TikTok user affected by the insults because he recorded and published the video call without the knowledge and consent of his chat partners: Whether the video was uploaded by the victim of the insults to show the insults, is unclear.

For his part, he runs a TikTok channel on which numerous recordings of video calls can be seen and the video in question was also published.

Tiktok: breaches of confidentiality of the word or image on social media common

The TikTok user is therefore suspected of having violated the confidentiality of the word according to § 201 StGB for the upload.

In addition, a violation of the penal provision of the Art Copyright Act can also be considered.

Finally, the racist statements are said to have been followed by insults, which, however, cannot be seen in the published part of the video, according to the report by the Passau police.

The Passau criminal police are therefore ultimately investigating mutual insults.

Violations of the confidentiality of the word or image are very easy to commit on social media, since they are in the room every time video or image material is published without the consent of the person speaking or depicted.

However, violations are often accepted and not reported.

Confused events: Another TikTok user called for the display, but (also) against innocent people

The police became aware of the video because another uninvolved user was tagged in the video and called for reporting in a TikTok video.

In the video, she showed the two Facebook profiles that could be assigned to the two suspects.

However, investigations revealed that a 19-year-old from the Passau district was wrongly marked there.

The criminal police have therefore also initiated investigations against this user because of false suspicion.

The 22-year-old suspect and the 19-year-old, who was wrongly suspected, filed a complaint with the Passau police station on May 17, because they had been insulted and threatened several times as a result of the shitstorm that ensued.

They had to deactivate their Facebook profiles, which had become public knowledge.

The platform TikTok had often caused trouble in the past, recently there were sexual assaults on young teenagers in Austria, which should be filmed and uploaded to TikTok.
