Daraa-Sana
The Daraa branch of the Arab Writers Union, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics at Damascus University, and the Higher Education Division opened a book fair that included more than 500 titles in all fields.
The poet Ibrahim Abbas Yassin, head of the Writers Union branch, said that the exhibition includes various titles in the fields of literature, thought, politics and studies, pointing out that the exhibition witnessed a great turnout from students, as all titles almost ran out from the first hour of its opening.
He pointed out that the exhibition set a symbolic value for any book, whatever it was, at two hundred pounds, with the aim of encouraging students to read within the framework of spreading the culture of returning to the book in light of the reliance on the Internet to obtain any information without referring to its primary sources and verifying its authenticity.
A number of university students saw this type of book fair as enabling them to purchase books at symbolic prices in light of the high price of books, which makes them unattainable, stressing the importance of repeating these fairs and providing them with more diverse titles that meet their needs and make way for increasing their cultural and knowledge stock.
Why peaceful?
