With numerous attractions, the members of the Kochler Wasserwacht draw attention to themselves at the Ufermarkt on this long weekend.

It's about collecting donations for the new building of the boathouse.

Kochel am See – For months the Kochler water rescue service has been putting up the big poster “Help!

We're drowning” draws attention to the precarious location of their boathouse on the shore of Lake Kochel.

The wooden poles are ailing, the roof is leaking and the new boat doesn't fit in anymore.

In addition, there is neither a treatment option for patients nor a toilet for the volunteers.

Costs: Planned up to 300,000 euros

Planning for a new building on the same site has been underway for some time.

It will cost 250,000 to 300,000 euros, reports Heinz Eger, chairman of the district water rescue service, where the threads come together here.

"It will not be a piece of jewelry, but a functional water rescue station." It is financed by the district association, possibly by subsidies that have been applied for and donations.

Actually, the water rescuers would have liked to start with the new building this year, but Eger does not expect to be able to keep the deadline.

Demonstrations and fun activities

In order to collect donations, the Kochel water rescue service will again be the only association to be represented at the Ufermarkt this year, which takes place from Thursday (Ascension Day) to Sunday, and where handicrafts, decorative items and a culinary offer can otherwise be found.

"We are very happy about this opportunity", says Hubert Heimisch, Technical Director of the Kochel Water Rescue Service, thanking the organizing event agency.

The water rescue service not only wants to report on their volunteer work and show demonstrations, but also provide fun and entertainment: For example, by aiming a water pistol at rubber ducks that are lined up on a beer table set.

"That was a big hit last year," reports Heimisch.

Emergency is simulated

In addition, on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2.30 p.m. there will be a rescue exercise with a motor boat on Lake Kochel.

Young people are also involved in this.

The Kochler water rescue service is currently experiencing a great rush: "We have 45 young people actively in the offspring and 40 children on the waiting list," says Heimisch.

Anyone who visits the stand can also learn from a doll how resuscitation is carried out or how to put on bandages correctly.

You can also "apply make-up" or children can paint themselves with the colors to their heart's content.

Raffle lures with numerous prizes

A raffle will also be held.

The water rescue service had previously asked numerous companies in the region for donations in kind.

"The feedback was enormous, we're really happy," says Heimisch.

You can win ice cream, meal and mountain railway vouchers as well as practical things for everyday life, such as drinking bottles.

The main prizes are several ticket vouchers from SC Riessersee and the three-day use of a hybrid vehicle as a rental car, sponsored by a car dealership from Penzberg.

Hoping for good weather

"Now we just hope that the weather will be good," says Heimisch.

"We are happy about every visitor." District boss Heinz Eger also hopes that many donations will be received.

The working conditions of the volunteers definitely need to be improved.

The members would serve both at the lake and in the guard station at Trimini, and youth work was also very active.

"Respect for the Kochler water rescue service," says Eger.

Information about the market and donations

The market on the lake promenade in Kochel takes place on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free.

Anyone who wants to support the Kochler water rescue service with the new construction of the boat hut can pay into this account of the BRK - it is important to state the purpose: "New construction of the water rescue service in Kochel".
