Tens of thousands of passengers pass through Ben Gurion Airport every day and since the opening of the skies, most of the activity has taken place in Terminal 3. A few weeks ago, Terminal 1 also opened, but the duty free was closed and everyone who completed the inspection process moved to Duty Free in Terminal 3, by bus Dedicated people waiting to leave Terminal 1.
As of June 1, this is about to change.
Low-cost carriers, led by EasyJet, Wizz Air, Transavia and other companies, will take off from Terminal 1. Negotiations are also currently underway with Rainier, which is also expected to transfer all its operations to Terminal 1, which is considered cheaper for low-cost carriers. In Terminal 1 are the Cypriot TUS, the Turkish Pegasus and even some of the flights of El Al, Arkia and Israir.
Private duty at Terminal 1 will open as early as next week, allowing passengers to sit in restaurants, purchase VAT-free products and pass the time relatively comfortably, until they depart for the plane. Those who complete the inspection process will no longer be transferred to Terminal 3, In Terminal 1, the whole process will go through there.
However, it is important to make sure in advance where your flight is departing from, there are sometimes changes and airlines may change the terminal from which the flight will depart.
The split between the terminals should help shorten the long waiting times currently registered at Ben Gurion Airport. However, the shortage of manpower is still there and significant, Between low-cost carriers and other airlines, will not lead to a significant reduction in waiting time on the way to the next vacation.
