It's the end of an era: a traditional bakery in Schwabach, Middle Franconia, has closed its doors forever.
That wasn't planned.
Schwabach - On Sunday (May 22) the last pretzel went over the counter at the Lederer bakery in Schwabach, Franconia.
Regular customers got their daily bread here for 35 years.
Now the traditional bakery will remain cold forever - although that was actually not what master baker Manfred Lederer intended.
As reported by
nordbayern.de
, a termination by the homeowner for personal use led to the sudden closure of the downtown branch.
Lederer did not count on it, the dismissal reached the master baker out of the blue.
He "unfortunately couldn't find a replacement for a sales outlet in a comparable location".
But at least: Manfred Lederer can keep his employees busy.
After 35 years: a traditional Franconian bakery suddenly has to close
Because the master baker runs three other branches in Schwabach.
As Lederer promises, the 45 full-time employees and 25 part-time employees should be able to switch to the sales outlets on Flurstrasse in Limbach, Fürther Strasse and Lindenstrasse.
"Nobody had to be fired," says the traditional baker.

More and more traditional companies in Bavaria have to go out of business.
Often the lack of specialist staff is the reason why the business cannot be managed in the future.
For example, a long-standing bakery in the Erding district recently had to close because the owner was unable to find qualified production staff.
