China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations affirmed that the US draft resolution submitted to the UN Security Council on imposing new sanctions against the DPRK is not useful and cannot solve any problem.
The mission said in a statement today: "The Chinese proposal submitted to the Council was supported by many delegations, but the United States did not show any interest in it because it knows that this is the best way to achieve de-escalation, but it opposes that."
The UN Security Council is scheduled to meet today to discuss tightening sanctions against Pyongyang after it conducted successful tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
