The Anti-Narcotics Branch in Damascus seized 37 kilograms of Captagon and hashish, and arrested six drug users and promoters.
The Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement that SANA received a copy of, that the branch seized 21 kilograms of the narcotic Captagon, which were hidden in plastic boxes and foodstuffs (sweet and labneh) and confiscated them.
The ministry said that by investigating those involved in the case, the branch arrested two brothers, one of whom admitted that he and his brother had transported narcotic substances by sending them from a shipping office in Damascus in return for material benefit after grinding the narcotic pills and hiding them in foodstuffs using a forged identity card for transportation.
She added that by investigating the house of (the second arrested), 49 Captagon pills, an electric mixer that he uses to grind narcotic pills, and a military pistol with ammunition were found.
In another context, the Ministry indicated that after receiving information to the Anti-Narcotics Branch in Damascus about the presence of people promoting narcotic substances in Damascus and its countryside, four people were arrested and 16 kilograms of cannabis was seized, and during interrogation they confessed to possessing and distributing narcotic substances.
The ministry confirmed the confiscation of narcotic drugs and that investigations are continuing with the arrested to reveal all those involved in the case and take the necessary measures against them.
