In Germany, the infection process is apparently calming down, as shown by the new figures from the RKI.
The current corona numbers in the overview.
Berlin – According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the nationwide seven-day incidence on Thursday morning (May 26) was 262.6.
This emerges from the corona numbers of the RKI dashboard from 5 a.m.
Corona in Germany: Nationwide incidence fell again
The incidence has fallen again.
On Wednesday (May 25), the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week was still 281.8 (previous week: 383.2, previous month: 909.1).
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation, as it is assumed that the data transmission is too low.
According to experts, the RKI has not recorded a large number of corona cases for some time.
The reason for this is, on the one hand, overburdened health authorities.
The fact that not all infected people do a PCR test also contributes to this.
Only these cases count in the statistics.
In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

Corona in Germany: the number of new infections has fallen significantly compared to the previous week
The health authorities in Germany recently reported 39,705 new corona infections (previous week: 58,719 registered infections) and 136 deaths (previous week: 165) to the RKI within one day.
Here, too, comparisons of the data are only possible to a limited extent due to the test behavior, late registrations or transmission problems.

In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since more and more federal states do not transmit to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
The RKI has counted 26,198,811 infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
