The Russians occupy the city of Lyman in the Luhansk region and are close to severing the last stronghold of the Ukrainians in the province • Authorities in the city of Leskensk buried 150 civilians killed in the bombings • Zalanski: "The situation is difficult, the world must help stop Russia"

Heavy fighting erupted on Thursday in eastern Ukraine with significant gains for the Russian invading force in the Luhansk region of the Donbas region, as part of an attack on 40 cities and towns.

The Russian army has succeeded in capturing the city of Lyman in the western part of the province.

The soldiers hoisted the Russian flag on government buildings in the city but were stopped near the railway line in the south of the city.

East of there, Russian forces approach the town of Bahmut, whose conquest will allow the Russians to cut off the last main road leading to the cities of Sverdansk and Lisichensk, the last Ukrainian stronghold in the Luhansk region.

Sources in the Ukrainian defense establishment told Israel Today that the Ukrainian army estimates that the cities are defensible and continues to infiltrate forces in the region in order to repel the attack.

The Russian army is constantly shelling the front line, using the crowded railway network in the area to refresh its shell supply thus leaving heavy pressure on the Ukrainian army in the area.

South of there, the Ukrainians managed to fend off a widespread Russian attack in the direction of Zaporizhia Oblast.

Authorities in the town of Laszczynsk have reportedly buried 150 civilians in a series of mass graves.

Civilians were killed in Russian army bombing throughout the province and their burial was carried out under continuous Russian army shelling.

Authorities in Ukraine announced today that since the start of hostilities, nearly 300 children have been killed by Russian military forces.

The President of Ukraine, Ludimir Zalansky, referred to the break-in of the Russian army near Luhansk and said that the situation was serious.

"The world must help us stop Russia. We have the courage and determination to win, but we need the weapons and assistance to succeed," Zalansky said, adding that his country would not stop fighting until all the territories occupied by Russia were liberated.
