In order to encourage farmers to use it and replace chemical pesticides, the Department of Biological Control in the Directorate of Agriculture in Damascus Countryside carried out a series of field experiments in the agricultural areas of the governorate on how to use the pesticide Crico Derma, which combats harmful fungi that cause plant wilt and root rot.
The director of agriculture in the governorate, Eng. Irfan Ziadeh, said in a statement to SANA that this pesticide contributes to raising the fertility rates of the soil and restores its biological balance, being more effective and less financially costly compared to any chemical alternative. It enhances the systemic resistance of plants and increases growth and fruits, and its production can be expanded, stressing that the Directorate Ready to provide support and facilities to farmers to ensure that the desired pesticide results are achieved.
Ziadeh explained that the pesticide is directly added to the soil through irrigation networks or any other method that ensures it reaches the root zone, pointing out that the experiments were carried out on most types of vegetables and fruit trees in the areas of Qatna, Artouz, Harmon, Darsha, Kiswa and Zakia, and 3900 kilograms were distributed to farmers in those areas.
