Markus Söder is in Greece - but not for vacation, but for work.
He speaks with Prime Minister Mitsotakis about the energy transition.
Munich - While the weather in Munich is changeable - on Wednesday morning it poured like rain, in the evening the sun was shining again from the blue sky - Markus Söder enjoys the summer weather in Greece.
Söder in Greece: "It's very hot very early in the morning"
Bavaria's Prime Minister is not on vacation, but to work in the southern European country.
On Thursday morning (May 26) he reports to his Instagram followers from the Acropolis in Athens.
"It's very hot very early in the morning," reports the CSU boss.
It is only a short visit and the important thing is not the sightseeing.
Söder meets Mitsotakis in Greece: topic of energy transition
Instead, it is about talks with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister.
"We've known each other for many years (...) It's not just about how Greece and Bavaria understand each other better, we do that very well.
But how can we make better use of renewable energies?”
“We want to advance the energy transition.
In Germany everything is looking north, we are looking south,” explains Söder in the video.
“You can do a lot with photovoltaics here.
(...) We not only need pipelines from the north (Baltic Sea and North Sea), but also, for example, liquid gas across the Mediterranean, especially for Bavaria.”

Many Instagram followers wish Söder "good luck with the talks and some time for culture." And another draws a direct comparison between the Bavarian and Greek colors: "Blue and white."
"Phew, I thought that was Donaustauf and the Walhalla," jokes someone with a view of the Acropolis.
"Hot and then with a jacket," someone wonders.
After all, Söder emphasizes the hot temperatures in Athens both at the beginning and at the end of the video.
