After a long time, the "Holzkirchner Symphoniker" were able to perform again in the Tölz Kurhaus.

The program included demanding works.

The audience gave big applause.

Bad Tölz – With his “Eroica”, the free spirit Ludwig van Beethoven composed an almost political symphony in 1805, with which he paid homage to the ideals of the French Revolution of freedom, equality and fraternity in the Habsburg surveillance state.

What work would be better suited to the current state of our world, which shows once again that there is no freedom unless you also fight for it.

Concert for the "Beethoven Year 2020" now rescheduled

More than 200 years ago, Beethoven's "Heroic", which he himself considered to be his best symphony, fell from the sky like a meteorite.

On Sunday evening, the "Holzkirchner Symphoniker" performed the work in the Tölzer Kurhaus.

They were also freed from the shackles of the compulsory Corona break.

With a two-year delay to the "Beethoven Year 2020", the Holzkirchner faced the huge demands of the Eroica, the shocking new ideas and the intimidating size of this music.

The audience in the Tölz Kurhaus listened spellbound to the performance.

Conductor Andreas Ruppert, the only professional among the protagonists, spurred his ensemble – all enthusiastic amateurs from different age and professional groups – on to top performances once again.

He guided her through the four monumental movements and created dimensions of depth, went into the details and still developed a great train.

The orchestra was in surprisingly good shape, showed themselves to be highly motivated and only had a few wobbles and weak moments.

Multifaceted sound

All groups of instruments produced a multi-faceted, multicolored sound that was warm and could increase to luminous fortissimo.

Of course it is forbidden to draw comparisons to the well-known Munich professional orchestras, because this "Eroica" was also an experience for music lovers.

She carried the element of the revolutionary, carried great feelings of anger, passion and confidence in victory.

While Beethoven fought hard for this musical departure into a new era, things are quite different with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's “Linzer Symphony”.

He composed it for a patron within a few days during a short stay in the city under time pressure.

So is she a lightweight?

Not at all, because that's actually how Mozart always worked.

As is well known, also in his operas.

Motivating conductor Andreas Ruppert

Eroica and Linzer formed an attractive contrast.

Mozart's symphony, which is just as demanding in terms of playing technique, is characterized by liveliness and tension, pastoral idyll and profundity, dance elements and elements of folk songs.

The people from Holzkirch can do that, too, albeit in this case with a slightly tightened handbrake on the tempi.

They approached the work with full concentration and respect, doing justice to the magic and the floating restlessness of this music.

Maestro Andreas Ruppert once again did a great job.

According to the motto "we can do it", he encouraged all orchestra members to achieve personal bests.
