Many old friends meet up again on Father's Day in the Ebersberg monastery building yard.

The classic and youngtimer friends had invited to the big rendezvous.

Ebersberg

- "You have to divide them up a bit," says Hermann Löckert from the Ebersberg classic and youngtimer friends.

He stands just behind the gate, inside the city's old monastery building yard, and now works as an "usher".

The motorcycle meeting on Father's Day is supposed to start at 10 a.m., but half an hour before that, half of the parking spaces are already occupied.

The two-wheeler enthusiasts have noticeable withdrawal symptoms after a two-year Corona break.

Some haven't seen each other for 30 years

This year, a large number of motorcyclists announced their coming by e-mail, reports Löckert.

"It's nice to meet people you haven't seen in three years." Some, however, even meet old friends here who they haven't seen in 30 years, such as a few members of the "Iron Wheels" from the Bad area Aibling.

Youngtimer or vintage car?

It doesn't matter this time, the main thing is to get back together.

The oldest drivers often also present the oldest machines on Father's Day.

The two-wheelers are sometimes in a better "health" condition than their elderly pilots themselves, while other motorcyclists really don't show their age because being outdoors in all wind and weather is obviously far less detrimental to health than car drivers who are spoiled with air conditioning gladly accepted.

As a trio, an Indian Scout, built in 1940, a Harley WLA (around the 40s) and another Indian (built in 1922) roll into the monastery building yard.

The drivers come in the short leather trousers appropriate to the occasion (Father's Day): "Write that down!" when a bruised knee hurts.

Many motorcycles, mainly of Japanese origin, can be seen on this day, which come from a time when cylinders were becoming more and more numerous, as was the horsepower, without the chassis being able to keep up even remotely.

However, these cars still have a legendary reputation among motorcyclists.

It is also interesting that the professionally restored condition of a two-wheeler is universally recognized by visitors, regardless of whether it is an NSU Quickly with 50 cc or a Laverda 750. Such an Italian beauty is right at the entrance to the monastery building yard and you Owner proudly tells that the restoration of the old lady kept him from his second hobby, fishing, for three years.

"It was a lot of work."

At the same time, old NSU fans are explaining to the interested community of fans next door that the Quickly, with a consumption of just two liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, is the most economical way of being motorized – even today.

Finally, around noon and after a little refreshment provided by the organizer, the first motorcyclists turn back to the road, after all the beautiful weather invites them to take a ride.
