Japan recently announced that it will open up small group tours to eligible travelers from the United States, Australia, Thailand and Singapore.
Authorities plan to further ease entry restrictions next month, according to Japanese media reports.
According to the report, the Japanese government plans to increase the daily entry limit from 10,000 to 20,000 from next month, and also allows entry for tourism purposes, but considering the needs of epidemic prevention, it may give priority to group tourists.
According to the South China Morning Post, citing sources, Japanese authorities consider Hong Kong to be an important market and are considering adding Hong Kong to a "blue list", exempting entry from testing and quarantine, as part of a plan to boost tourism recovery.
However, if Japan refuses to recognize the Sinovac vaccine and Hong Kong maintains the current quarantine measures, even if it is included in the list, it is believed that it will be of little effect.
