For the Helfensteiners, the season of historical festivals and activities, in which they take part, also began on Thursday.

With sunshine and a good mood, a field service started again this year at 10.30 a.m.

It was musically framed by the Apfeltracher music band, which has been an integral part of the festival for years.

But there were a few special features this year, because the process and the framework of the festival had been slightly adjusted.

Traditionally, the Helfensteiner Day offers one or the other demonstration of Landsknecht tactics and smaller fights.

However, due to the war in Ukraine, the organizers decided not to hold the screenings this year.

All members agreed on that, as the weekly KURIER found out on site.

"It doesn't fit the time at the moment," one could hear from those involved.

With almost 100 helpers, consisting of members and friends, not only the physical well-being was taken care of, but also a lot of entertainment was offered for small and large guests around the festival.

For the younger ones, for example, bowling alleys were set up and one or the other game of skill was also waiting.

This was enthusiastically accepted and many a parent clearly had trouble dissuading their child from doing so.

This means that the Helfensteiner Day has returned from the two-year Corona break.

The festival was canceled for the first time since 1985 and it was correspondingly well attended this year.

People were happy to meet friends and acquaintances again and to spend a nice day together.

At the end of June, the next big festival for the Helfensteiners continues.

Then it's "1522 - Homecoming of Bicocca" on the Schwabenwiese and the Mindelburg.

As a reminder: After the Frundsberg Festival had to be canceled for this year, the board of directors of the Frundsberg Festring Mindelheim thought about how a historic event could be held safely despite the corona restrictions.

The result was then "1522 - Homecoming of Bicocca".

The celebrations will take place over two weekends, from June 24th to 26th and from July 1st to 3rd. Among other things, various market stalls, lansquenet camps, food and drink stalls, but also drummers, whistlers, minstrels, crossbowmen's stand and historical dances are planned.
