Kochel am See/Bad Tölz – As reported, the line should run every half hour between Kochel and Lake Walchensee in the summer half-year on weekends.

The new regulation should apply “ideally from June 4th”, i.e. in time for the Pentecost holidays, said Deputy District Administrator Thomas Holz (CSU), who chaired the meeting, on Monday.

With operation until the end of October, around 65,000 euros will be incurred for this year.

"There will definitely be a demand"

Since three district councilors had voted against the increase in frequency during the preliminary consultation in the environmental committee, Holz, who is also the mayor of Kochl, once again clarified the need.

“There will definitely be demand here.

Last summer, booster buses were used here because you could no longer transport people with the normal timetable," said Holz.

It has also proven useful to coordinate bus and train times.

"The buses have been full ever since."

Day guests in focus

In addition, the frequency increase is "100 percent" included in the local transport plan with priority one.

"And the plan was approved by the entire district council," recalled the deputy district administrator.

In addition, the expansion and increasing attractiveness of local public transport in this area is also part of the Walchensee concept that the district, municipalities and forestry company have developed.

"Yes, we have the day-trippers in mind, but we also have an eye on the local population," emphasized Holz.

An attractive public transport offer leads to less traffic pollution, "and if there are fewer cars on the road, we also do our bit for climate protection," said the deputy district administrator.

Susanne Merk (FW) liked that.

"I hope that people will really use the public transport offer and relieve the streets.

That would be my wish," she said.
