The annual exhibition for students and graduates of the Plastic Arts Center in Lattakia provides an opportunity to introduce the diverse and rich artistic experiences of a group of amateurs who chose to pay attention to developing their talents and passions in an academic manner that keeps pace with the progress of plastic arts and to form a tributary of the Syrian plastic movement, with their different levels and artistic visions.
One hundred artworks included in the exhibition, which is currently held at the center’s headquarters, reflected the diversity and richness of the topics presented and the great diversity of techniques used, whether in painting (oil, acrylic and watercolor) or in sculpture and materials used from wood and stone, in addition to drawing with lead, charcoal, engraving, calligraphy and fashion design.
The works that came as a result of the efforts of more than 60 students in the center and its graduates were distinguished, according to the director of the center, Elham Naasan Agha, in diversity and richness in colors and the ability to express the students’ feelings and concerns in an artistic language through the freedom to choose topics and work on them with an incentive to come up with an artistic product that meets the approval of the public and critics on Both.
Naasan Agha said in a statement to SANA reporter that the center affiliated to the Directorate of Latakia Culture constitutes a window for those interested in developing their artistic talents, regardless of age and educational attainment, under the supervision of a teaching staff of the most important plastic artists, keeping pace with the progress of the fine movement and seeking to meet the interests of applicants to the center.
Plastic artist Adawiya Diop, a professor at the center with engraving, saw that the exhibition allows those interested in art to view it in a way that dedicates the artistic culture of the community, noting that the center depends primarily on the desire and passion of the student and the space of freedom by adopting the subject he loves and developing his skills to be able to present his visions in a good artistic work .
Among the paintings, there were also paintings of fashion designs, which are the products of the students of the design department, which was opened by the center this year as part of its keenness to keep pace with the interests of its affiliates.
Professor of the department, Architect Shiraz Mahmoud, pointed out that “the students of the Fashion Design Department showed a lot of passion and creativity, whether with the designs presented or the selected materials that are studied systematically, allowing students in the future to be able to enter the labor market and present designs bearing the creative and personal touches of its designer. “.
Nour Hamqamy, a graduate of kindergarten and one of the center's students who participated in two water works, saw in the center an opportunity to return her to her passion for art after life circumstances kept her away from him, while the teacher and graduate of the Faculty of Education Rana Ibrahim chose the councils of the center to develop her drawing talent so that she can embody the characters of her stories as she imagines and imagines her as a storyteller for kids.
Haneen Menoun, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Sharing, has an oil painting depicting the olive picking rituals. Many of the visitors to the exhibition, including artists and interested people, admired her. She believed that her approach to art came to express her feelings and feelings in a creative way, noting the importance of the experience provided by the center in integrating more with the subject of art and meeting others with the same passion.
