The Yuen Long Police District Anti-Triad Squad has launched an anti-crime operation code-named "THUNDERBOLT 2022".
After in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, the police raided an industrial building at 109-111 On Lok Road, Yuen Long at about 1:30 am today (26th) and smashed a suspected unlicensed bar.
During the operation, the police arrested a 20-year-old man surnamed Cai local in charge on suspicion of "unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages", "unlicensed possession of alcoholic beverages for sale" and violation of the "Prevention and Control of Diseases (Requirements and Instructions)" (Business and Premises) Regulations (Cap. 599F).
Another 45 males and 16 females, aged between 14 and 48, were arrested on suspicion of "drinking on premises without a liquor licence". They also violated the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G), The police then issued a fixed penalty notice to them.
During the operation, police officers seized about 1,100 cans of beer, 2 sticks of spirits, a batch of audio-visual equipment and bar equipment.
All arrested men and women are being detained for investigation.
The police emphasized that selling alcohol without a license is a serious crime, with a maximum fine of $1 million and two years in prison upon conviction. We appeal to the public not to try the law by themselves.
During the severe epidemic period, the Police urge the public to take care of themselves and others and strictly abide by the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance to help control the epidemic and reduce the risk of virus transmission in the community.
