It is the first school event after the Corona break at the Miesbach Gymnasium.
And it's about to be a premiere: the ninth graders invite you to a poetry slam.
Anyone can watch.
Miesbach
– Those who step into the ring here let the words speak: At the first poetry slam on Friday, May 27, at 7.30 p.m. (admission from 7 p.m.) in the auditorium of the Miesbach grammar school, the only thing that counts is the power of language, explains German teacher Martin Moßbacher.
The 20 students in his ninth grade have learned the courage to really unleash this over the past few weeks.
Where initially skeptical heads hung over empty blocks, creative scribbling later reigned supreme.
"Everyone has written a text, some even several," reports Moßbacher proudly.
The idea for the poetry slam - a literary competition in which self-written texts are presented within a certain period of time - came about spontaneously and actually only through detours.
First and foremost, the students wanted to enrich school life with an event after the long Corona break.
Using fragments on a USB stick that a colleague had left him during his legal clerkship, the German teacher reconstructed the idea of how a poetry slam could be implemented in class.

The euphoria of the students was limited at first, they concede in unison.
Composing a creative text at the push of a button tends to lead to writer's block.
The ninth graders had at least as much trouble choosing a topic.
Valuable tips were given by none other than the Bavarian culture award winner Pauline Füg.
Moßbacher reports that he simply wrote to the writer and psychologist from Fürth.
And the professional poetry slammer actually came to Miesbach.
She not only instructed the high school students in writing, but also trained them in terms of stage presence (voice, facial expressions and gestures).
Eight students present contributions on stage
The audience will now experience the result at the competition on May 27th.
Eight students will present their contributions - between one and five minutes (this is the maximum length at a poetry slam) on stage.
The topics: fear of failure, the Third World War or the (non)sense of Google.
There were no restrictions here, emphasizes Moßbacher.
"Anything that moves is allowed." The form can also be freely selected.
"It can, but doesn't have to, rhyme."

A five-person jury made up of teachers, students and parents will evaluate the contributions with points and thus choose the winner of the literary competition.
The chamber choir of the high school will accompany the evening musically, the Q11 will organize a drink sale.
Incidentally, with free admission, not only members of the school family are welcome, but also all other interested parties.

One thing is particularly important to Moßbacher: every student should leave the stage with a proud smile.
Because nobody has to fear low blows in the first "Duel of the Poets" in the auditorium of the Miesbach high school.
