Watch a preview of the new "Stranger Things" 1:52
(CNN Spanish) –
Netflix is hours away from reopening the
Upside Down
.
After almost 3 years of waiting, the fourth season of "Stranger Things" arrives and some fans wonder: what surprises will the Duffer brothers have in their hands?
Netflix is very jealous of its content, so knowing exactly what will happen episode after episode is complicated.
Even those who have had access to the full preview of the first episode must comply with clauses that prevent them from revealing plots and talking about specific situations.
However, the trailers published by the
streaming
company give us some clues as to what we can expect in this fourth season.
"Stranger Things" 4: what we know about the premiere
First of all, this season will be divided into two volumes, or two parts.
The premiere this Friday, May 27, constitutes the first part of the story, while the second will be released five weeks later, on July 1.

They are not random dates.
This series has always been released during or near a holiday in the United States.
The
first season
premiered over Christmas
The
second
during Halloween
And the
third
on Independence Day of the United States
The two dates chosen for the premiere of the fourth season coincide with Memorial Day and again with the United States Independence Day.
Both are long weekends where most people in America don't work and will be able to spare a few hours of those days to watch episode after episode.
Netflix publishes each new season at midnight in Los Angeles, that is, 3:00 am Miami time.

The fourth season will have 9 episodes which, according to Netflix, add up to almost 13 hours of material.
The first six are released in the first installment of the story.
The last round will have a group duration of almost 4 hours, Netflix said.
Episode number seven will last 1 hour and 38 minutes, number eight 1 hour and 25 minutes and the last episode of the season almost two and a half hours.
What is the plot of this season?
From now on, the
streaming
company says that this installment will be the most chilling of the entire saga.
Netflix describes this season as follows:
"It's been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is torn apart for the first time, and navigating the complexities of high school hasn't made things any easier. In this most vulnerable moment, a horrific new supernatural threat arises, presenting a terrifying mystery that, if solved, could finally bring the horrors of the
Upside Down
to an end ."
We know that the much loved Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is not dead.
In a preview they show him as a prisoner in a snowy place, specifically in Kamchatka, Russia, working on the rails of a train.

SPOILER
: If you haven't seen the third season and the preview of the first chapter of the fourth, skip this part of the article.
Why is it surprise?
Hopper was expected to be dead.
The character was sacrificed in the final chapter of the third season.
With his death, the portal to the
Upside Down
that opened in the Starcourt Mall was closed.
That's how he saved Joyce (Winona Ryder) and the kids from
Stranger Things
.
Hopper isn't the only character to return.
Also, in a trailer released last year, Netflix told us that the antagonistic character Dr. Brenner, better known as Papa, will be in the fourth season.
Let's remember that he is the scientist who was in charge of the Hawkins National Laboratory where experiments were carried out with children with superpowers.
Papa is the nickname with which Eleven refers to him.

What the first episode of the fourth season reveals
The series released on May 20 the first eight minutes of the first episode of this season, which transports us precisely to Papa's house, but seven years earlier, in 1979.
Later we see scenes from the Hawkins National Laboratory, where these children with abilities out of that world are.
We see them playing in a room with rainbows on the walls and floor and wearing the typical hospital gowns.
Dr. Brenner interacts with Ten, one of the children who answers one of Papa's questions with one of the show's usual objects: the famous eight ball.
In the scenes, which are accompanied by a sound treatment that makes the atmosphere somewhat chilling, we see Papa and Ten pass in front of the door of Eleven's room.
They go to a laboratory where the boy does "exercises" to strengthen his psychic abilities.
In the middle of the exercise, Ten visualizes that something is not right in the lab, sees blood on the floor, says he hears the children's screams, and then reveals that Dr. Ellis and Six are dead.
Out of nowhere, a supernatural force breaks the door of the room where Dr. Brenner and Six were, injuring Papa and killing the boy.
Who is he or the one responsible for this mascare?
Everything indicates that she was Eleven, as she is the only girl left alive in the place.
