The Russian Northern Fleet reported today that the large anti-submarine warship "Admiral Levchenko" of the fleet was trained to fire missiles and artillery against air and sea targets of a hypothetical enemy during exercises in the Barents Sea.
"The Admiral Kinzal ship was trained to fire with the Kinzal surface-to-air missile system, dual-target guns and fast anti-aircraft artillery," TASS news agency quoted the fleet's press service as saying in a statement.
According to the statement, "the ship eliminated enemy aircraft and cruise missiles during the exercises and trained to fire using the Kinzal missile system," adding that "the ship-borne artillery teams also trained to hit naval targets that simulate enemy speed boats, as well as firing at a floating sea mine."
"After the combat training missions at sea, the crew of the warship returned to its naval base in Severomorsk," the press office said.
The ship also earlier trained for torpedo firing on a submarine and other anti-submarine missions in the Barents Sea.
