Criticism of the police

Families in Ovalda began preparing today (Thursday) for the funeral arrangements of the 21 victims, while that day was supposed to be the last day of school before the summer break.

New details regarding the hour of terror inside the school continued to be revealed during the day, as well as harsh criticism against the police response.

According to the New York Times, parents of students trapped inside the classroom urged police to storm the school earlier.

"They were angry," 26-year-old Derek Sotlo, who heard the shots from the nearby garage and immediately went to school, told the newspaper.

"We just thought to ourselves, 'What the hell is going on there?'

Are they about to enter ?. The fathers said, 'Give us vests, we will enter ourselves!' ", He added.

The first report of an armed man approaching the school arrived at 11:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

By the time the 18-year-old was killed by police after 1 p.m., he had already managed to kill 19 students and two teachers.

Now the question arises as to how the police and a security guard of the school handled the shooting.

Early reports claimed that the shooter and a police officer outside the school opened an exchange of fire, but this did not happen, according to the schedule formulated by law enforcement officials, a source close to the investigation said.

The officer was not stationed at the school, but in a nearby car, and ran to the scene after the first emergency call arrived.

On the way to school, the shooter had already approached the building and started firing at the entrance, according to the schedule.

Within minutes, two more police officers arrived at the school.

Two staff members of the Ovalda police entered the building.

The girl at that point entered two adjacent classes and began firing.

The two officers tried to enter the classroom and were shot, according to the schedule.

According to information, most of the victims were shot in the first minutes of the shooter's arrival.

The shooter continued to shoot through the wall and door at police officers outside the classroom.

In those minutes the shooter, Salvador Ramos, shot at children and teachers.

Random shots were heard until the tactical crew arrived at 1 p.m.
