The IDF is considering closing a company in the Eternal Judea Battalion as a result of low recruitment rates, possibly as early as August 2022. Israel Today has learned that due to the unresponsiveness of other ultra-Orthodox youths to enlist, senior battalion and ACA officials recently examined whether to keep the battalion Current or close one of the companies.
As early as last April, the ACA examined the recruitment data for March, and found that it had failed and did not meet the target regarding the recruitment of ultra-Orthodox to the IDF.
Due to this, it was decided to establish a committee to study the recruitment of ultra-Orthodox PLOs, in order to understand the current cause of the failure.
Sources involved in the matter say that in recent months it has been decided on a series of releases of people who were involved in recruiting yeshiva members, and claim that this may be part of the reason for the failed attempts to recruit more fighters.
Until the final decision on the fate of the company was made, the IDF decided to recruit a Binyanish (Bnei Yeshivot) department in each recruitment cycle in order to strengthen the Haredi battalion.
The IDF spokesman said in response: There is no intention to change the organizational structure of the Eternal Judea Battalion. Eternal Judea fighters are at the forefront of the effort to thwart terrorism and perform significant and important service.
