The branch of the General Organization for Seed Propagation in Hama started receiving barley from the multiplying fields contracted for the current agricultural season.
The engineer, Louay Al-Hosari, who is in charge of managing the affairs of the institution's branch, explained to SANA reporter that barley is received after inspection by specialized technicians to ensure that it conforms to the required specifications.
Al-Husari pointed out that the area planted with barley in the breeding fields in the governorate amounts to about 700 hectares, which is expected to produce 500 tons of seeds, indicating that the contracted farmers will be given an encouraging price that exceeds the price circulating in the local market as a reward for them to deliver the crop to the branch of the institution.
With regard to the wheat crop, Al-Hosari pointed out that the harvesting of the crop from the propagating fields contracted for the current season will start in the second week of next June, noting that the wheat and barley seeds will be sifted and sterilized shortly after receiving the two crops to be distributed as seeds to farmers in the next agricultural season.
The branch of seed multiplication in Hama received during the last season 18,400 tons of wheat and 245 tons of barley from the breeding fields.
