Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg (Meretz) plans to appoint two new board members to the Nature and Parks Authority, who are proactively and actively working against the development of Jewish nature and heritage sites in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.
The appointments, which are due to be approved by the government on Sunday, come about a week after Minister Zandberg appointed Raya Soraki as chairman of the Nature and Parks Authority.
The appointments are not experts in the desired field: Zandberg, Photo: Gideon Markovich
One of the appointments is Yonatan Mizrahi, CEO of Emek Shaveh, which actively works against any development in the Old City and East Jerusalem, and even filed petitions with the High Court against the cable car project to the Western Wall and the construction of the elevator in the Cave of the Patriarchs and more.
Another appointment of the minister is that of Sharon Karni-Cohen, a lawyer for the "Bimkom" organization, also an extreme left-wing organization that works against government decisions in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.
Zandberg plans to name these two candidates as "experts."
Curiously, they will meet standards reserved for professors in the fields of archeology and planning.
For example, so far the professor of archeology, Aharon Meir of Bar Ilan University, and Professor Shaike Erez have served on these boards.
