An offer from the Protestant community in Holzkirchen is aimed at people with and without refugee experience: Every Wednesday afternoon, the Thomassaal becomes “Toms Treff.

Holzkirchen

– Relationships should develop here, says Ulrike Lorentz, pastor of the Protestant parish in Holzkirchen.

And all people are welcome, she adds.

“Toms Treff” recently opened in the Thomassaal on Haidstrasse.

The offer is aimed at people with and without refugee experience, at refugees from Ukraine as well as from other countries.

"And the people from Holzkirchner are also welcome," emphasizes Lorentz.

"Toms Treff" opens its doors every Wednesday from 2 p.m.

If you then come to the Thomassaal, you can expect a wide range of activities.

Her husband had his guitar with him at one of the last meetings, Lorentz says.

That's when the idea came up to make music together.

There is currently a play area for the children, but there will be more in the future.

Visitors can also find out about topics related to escape and residence.

Representatives of the Diakonie come once a month and are available for such questions.

A lawyer will also be invited, reports Lorentz.

Above all, "Toms Treff" is about people getting to know each other and being able to exchange ideas.

"Everything is friendly and uncomplicated," says Pastor Lorentz.

The idea for "Toms Treff" came about spontaneously.

When the need for such an event became clear, the Rotary Club, the community foundation and the Protestant church community all got together.

"We didn't want to create concepts forever, we just wanted to act," reports Lorentz.

The Thomassaal offered an ideal opportunity for "Toms Treff".

"Toms Café", the inclusion project of the Protestant community, takes place here in the mornings.

"We are allowed to use their furniture," says Lorentz.

The Rotarians donate coffee and cake, and everything else, says Lorentz, will follow in the near future.

"We are open to how this thing develops," says Lorentz.

A good 25 people attended the first meeting.

Now the Holzkirchner pastor wishes that more people would use “Toms Treff” in the future to network.

Whether as a visitor or helper, with or without refugee experience: "Toms Treff" welcomes everyone, says Lorentz.
