Most corona restrictions have now been lifted.

But if you travel to Germany from abroad, 3G still applies, at least in theory.

That should now be repealed.

From next Wednesday, 3G proof will no longer be required when entering Germany.

The federal cabinet decided on Wednesday in Berlin to relax the corona entry rules that are still in force accordingly.

From

June 1st,

travelers returning and other people entering the country will no longer have to prove that they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested (3G).

The

currently valid Corona entry regulation

stipulates this for all persons over the age of twelve until May 31st.

The measures served to facilitate mobility and freedom of movement as well as travel, it is now said.

In addition, not only the vaccines approved by the EU, but

all vaccines approved by the WHO are to be recognized

upon entry.

It is pointed out that this is relevant for cross-border workers and commuters, among other things.

No more 3G proof when entering Germany – initially until the end of August

"

We will suspend the 3G rule upon entry by the end of August,

" Health Minister Karl Lauterbach had previously announced in the newspapers of the Funke media group.

It is currently unclear whether it will be reintroduced from September.

The Corona entry regulation changed by the cabinet initially applies until August 31.

It would then have to be changed and extended again accordingly, or else it would expire completely.

For

travelers from so-called virus variant areas

, however, stricter rules remain in place: They must go into a 14-day quarantine in Germany, even if they are vaccinated or have recovered.

However, no country is currently designated as a virus variant area.

According to the new ordinance, such an expulsion can also take place in the future if known virus variants that cause more severe disease progression, such as the delta variant, occur more frequently in an area.
